4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

HOW DID YOU PROPOSE?: BY THE GROOM
Hmmm.. Having known Shushu and I’ve been her friend for a couple of years, I decided that I was going to settle down. And as the bible says, ‘he that findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord’* I decided to “find a wife” and in the guise of finding a wife, I am someone who is principled and I like to look out for certain things I like to look out for in a woman. Funny enough I’ve known Shushu for like 10 years now and it didn’t occur to me that she was my wife all this while but I realized when you’re ready, you’ll notice the diamond under your nose and then I noticed this diamond shining so bright. That was the turning point of my life. The thought just kept hitting me every other hour even before I started going out with her. I had confirmed prayerfully and even her mum had confirmed it the first day I met her mum.
Here we are, some months later and I was supposed to propose to her. She had no idea, she had even planned out the biggest surprises for me and she had no idea that I had planned out the biggest surprise for her. My friends cooperated and decided to organize a dinner for me. And Shushu , her friend, brother and sister were invited as guests. There was this session where everyone was asked ‘what do you know about Joe?’ It got to her turn and I had “connived” with my friends to send random text messages to her “WILL-YOU-MARRY-ME- SHUSHU?” and all of them sent different things. When she was done, I urged her to check her messages and she was trying to understand then she coded, her face changed.
Then the fairy tale method, I went on my knee and brought out a diamond ring from my archives and proposed to my beautiful wife. And… that was the proposal. Proposal of life!
HOW DID YOU MEET?: BY THE BRIDE
We met 10 years ago in our first year at the University of Calabar, Calabar…it wasn’t a love at first sight meeting but more of a casual exchange of names as Joe was drawn by my smile and warm personality. We both however remained casual friends until I returned from my Masters program in the U.K. Joe was relentlessly asking to see me and even wanted us to go on a movie date but trust me I had to give Joe a little tough time. I finally agreed to see him and we had our first date in April 2015. Joe asked me out but I didn’t give him an immediate reply as I needed to be sure I was making the right decision and that Joe meant it. I eventually said yes to Joe and we have been crazily in love since then and Joe’s outgoing, caring, and loving personality makes it even more fun. I’ve come to learn a lot from Joe.
